Why Invest in Welfare?
Some zoos see investing in welfare as one cost too many, but we've seen first hand how spending the money in the short-term can reduce costs substantially and cumulatively in the long-term. We believe that investing in understanding and optimising animal welfare soon leads to lower animal care costs, higher reproductive rates, and lower staff turnover. And of course, the principal reason for investing in welfare is the intrinsic improvements for the animals themselves.
