Enrichment isn’t just about keeping animals occupied—it should engage their cognitive abilities and encourage problem-solving, just as they would experience in the wild. While presenting animals with problems may induce short-term frustration, appropriate challenge is a key component of a successful enrichment programme—as long as animals have the tools to succeed.
